Another Post by Waybig

Hello everyone. Haven't posted in a while. Since I usually post Thursdays, I've decided to post today instead. Today is Mexico's Bicentennial. So in honor of it, I will post tracks from 2 Mexican house producers (currently on Phantom :P) - CH1M3R4 and Vatska.

Victor Manuel Araujo Hernandez is a house producer under the name CH1M3R4. He makes funky house tracks. He will release an album on Phantom soon.

Alpha Centauri (Original Mix) by CH1M3R4

The second artist I'd like to talk about is Vatska. Yup, my new artist name. xD I was supposed to release an EP today. It will come soon. So, in the meantime, here is a track I made for the ep. I hope you guys like it.

Invaders and Emotional Digital Lovers.

Time for another post by me. No real theme here, just tracks I've been into.

First track is Invaders Must Die, by The Prodigy. This song is more known as the song from the Scott Pilgrim trailer. It's a pretty awesome track.

Moving on to another track I like currently is the remix AlphaBeat made of Digital Love for ReDiscovery. Digital Love is one of my all time favorite songs. This remix chops the original sample and over lays it with a smooth bass and synths.

Last but not least, a track by The Jokestrap. This track's title is The Emotional Lover. I love the combination of the sample and the synths. I hope he releases it soon.

That's all for today. Hope you enjoy!

I'm Back!

Hello everyone. DJ Waybig here, back from vacation. Now that I am back, I am back to posting! I've decided to do a post today since I am way overdue. (Plus, I saw no one has posted in 11 days.) Here are some tracks I've been listening to recently.

Magna - When It's Over

Out of all the songs Magna had in Three EP, I find this my favorite. The sample is very good, and it reminds me a lot of With You Friends by Skrillex. Very well made ep as well from Magna.

Xinobi - Valsa in NJ

Very epic track from Xinobi. I had first heard it in the LLR mixtape. I had to look for this one a lot.

Well, those are my 2 tracks for today. Hope you guys enjoyed my post!

Something For You To Listen To: Cosmos - Take Me With You

Tom Middleton created this club smash under the moniker "Cosmos" wayyyyy back in 2002.
and its extra special because he used no samples it, in fact he swears against using other peoples work.
Now Middleton has a few other hits, but this is by far my favorite from him.
and i like it for 2 reasons.
1: I love the Bassline.
2: Middleton played all the parts by himself.
so yea, its a fukin awesome track, and if you dont like it, i will find you and destroy you.

Dark's Track of the Week: Aufgang - Dulceria

Yes yes yes, homeladies and gentlemen! Darky's back wioth a brand new track (of the week).

This week, after a bit of a post gap, due to some personal issues, i've decided to show off a track from a band that many of you may not know at all! Even I am not too sure exactly who they are, but my research shows that the band consists of Francesco Tristano and Rami Khalifé.

They are what I can only define as soul house, due to the house music background, and simple pianos and chicago influences. This particular track is one of their newest, "Dulceria", which is currently being used for a remix competition, as well as appearing on their next album, "Air on Fire".

Overall, I quite like the track, mind that it does seem a little out of sync sometimes, but I can forgive it, especially for that strange vocal and pianos!

As a bonus to this post, here is my own remix of this track, which I feel is slightly more organised than the original:

I love DNB

I know i said i would post on the weekend, but the cold is a bitch.
Anyway, for most of the summer, Earl has been listening almost exclusively to the fast paced, bass thumping style know as DNB.
Now, from what i have gleaned off of Wikipedia, i have been listening mostly to liquid funk, which is what artists like Netsky, High contrast and Mistabishi produce.
I have Produced a couple of Dnb tracks of my own, but since i dont feel like doing the whole SSP thing, you can check out my souncloud(s).
and since im still a bit new to the genre, i would love it if you could recommend some artists in the comments section.
so anyway, here is a small tenmix of my favorite tracks sofar.(im getting better at mixing, but i still have a few glitches)
Track Listing:
Sub Focus - Follow The Light
Danny Byrd - Gold Rush
Imogen Heap - Headlock(High Contrast Mix)
MGMT - Time To Pretend(High Contrast Mix)
Netsky - Smile
Mage - Summer Love
Madmen & Madmen & Poets - Scandinavian Sunday

Epic. Just plain epic. 2 weeks ago was 1 year after Michael Jackson's death. I was going to do a post, but I didn't have anything really ready. So yeah. I love how Moonchild filters the song. Epic remix of an epic artist by an epic artist ;D.

Saturated Phat Impact (Treasure Fingers Edit) by The Phantom's Revenge

Next remix is Treasure Fingers Edit of Phantom's Revenge. I've become addicted to it. It's pretty good.

That's all I have for today. Hope you enjoyed my post! :D

New Tron Track? Hell Yes!

The first question in your mind after reading the headline is most likely "Is It Real?" Good question. By now, we've all seen so many tracks claimed to supposedly be real tron tracks, but turn out to be just fakes made by some other artist (i.e Fragile,The Crash) So when i saw this:

I thought it was just another guy making up some bull@#$! That is,until i saw THIS (you can hear it at 1:21 and on):

This is an official trailer from disney by the way, so i can confirm the track on the first vid is 100% Official. Amazing right? Yes it is. Its even more amazing to me that this was even confirmable from the start. I am so sure this is a real track that if I am proved wrong, I will hereby resign from this blog. Anyways, you guys need a link to this. I cant blab about it and screw you over. :)

Daft Punk-Tron Legacy Trailer Theme

And just as an added bonus, here is a badass track from Beaufort to get you in the mood for Tron: Legacy

Dark's Track of the Week: Sasha and Emerson - Scorchio

This week's "Track of the Week" is probably an unsung hero of the bridge between Techno and Progressive House.

Released in late 2000 as a three track EP, I first discovered "Scorchio" many years ago at a house party, and was instantly blown away by the main synth and builds. Little did I know at the time that what I heard was a radio edit: The main mix is way better!

Masterminds Sasha & Emerson bring home a progressive yet soulful piece of dance music that i'm sure you can't help enjoying.

I must say, overall, I do prefer this remix above many others. But it is the genius of the original that still hits me whenever I listen.

Cheers,

Dark.

Dark's Track of the Week: Calvin Harris - Vegas

Classic tune from Mr Harris, who of late is best known for "I'm Not Alone" and "Ready for the Weekend". It is difficult to really define what Calvin's music is all about, with the style being mainly pop electro, but all insanely catchy.

This track in particular is one of my favourites. It shares the bassline from "Acceptable in the 80's" but adds some extremely catchy vocals and a franky amusing tone. Vegas" is a lovely tune, and very fun to listen to. I'd always recommend this dude to anyone, especially his "I Created Disco" album.

Peace out,

Dark.

PS. Here's a picture of a "Toast E", made by me, for your amusement.

OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!!!

i came in today thinking about posting something good for monday.
maybe some high contrast, or sub focus.
but then i heard this.
OMGWTFBBQ
and holys*** have i ever been angrier.
its called happiness by alexis jordan, even the title p****s me off(also her name, it reminds me of Jordan Sparxxx, or sparks, or whatever, f*** her.)
it is your average cookie cutter pseudo-pop/dance hybrid that is permeating the market these days.
and heres teh kicker: IT BLATANTLY STOLE DEADMAU5ES SONG, BRAZIL(2nd edit i believe)
FOR THE WHOLE DAMN SONG.
and it was very amateurish as well.
"like it was done in audacity"
needless to say, it obviously is a infringement of copyright, because on my heart i know Mr. Zimmerman would NOT sign off teh tune that made him framous for somethin like this.
B******IZING GOOD DANCE MUSIC IS BAD KIDS.
now, to lighten the mood, our comic book villan of the day is(aniticipation!!!!!):

ZOD, BOW DOWN TO HIM!!!!!
of course the superman 2 version

"what is this Houston and why does it have a problem"-ZOD, DESTROYER OF WORLDS, CONQUEROR OF PLANETS, OVERLORD OF DOOM, GOOD ENOUGH FOR ONE MOVIE

Album Review: Ian Pooley - "In Other Words"

Let’s kick start the creation of this new blog with a track by track album review that, so far, I have not seen many reviews for..

Probably best known for “Chord Memory” (Remixed by none other than “Daft Punk”), Ian Pooley, real name Ian Pinnekamp, is a German house artist who can amazingly juggle his styles between albums, ranging from the heavy underground house of his early ep’s to the ever popular Latino styles of “Since Then”.

The album I am reviewing is one of his most recent releases, “In Other Words”. Released on 13th June 2008, the album mixes heavy underground house with hip hop styles, ambient melodies and catchy rhythms to deliver some powerful, if unique, combinations.

Here is some essential Information about the album:

Artist: Ian Pooley
Title: In Other Words
Released: 2008
Style: Deep House
Length: 73:32
Tracks: 14

"Intro"

This is beautifully composed with ambient pads and the feel of rushing waters of foreign lands. It is'nt especially long, but it sets the mood excellently. It also runs into the first proper track of the album, "5 Am".

8/10

"5 Am"

Classic house, with a scene setting introduction of bongos and raindrops, which continues to repeat throguhout the song, keeping a rather ambient feel to this one.
I absolutely love the melodies that come in around 3:20, as well as the drum patterns/hi hats. Probably not the best track on the album, but definitely worth listening to...

7/10

"It's You"

Some very funky mastering on this one, especially the beginning, with panning of the elements between ears. There's a very catchy main synth, that continues to blend with the flowing vocal samples present within.
Overall, well presented and, while not a massive club hit, can be a good track to listen in the background or when you need an upbeat, feel good track.

8/10

"What I Got (Featuring Tim Fuller)"

Starting off with a decent drumset build up, then diving straight into some 80's style bass, this track is definitely one to listen. There are some nice drops and builds here, good vocal effects, if not fully understandable, and a funky bassline to boot.
This definitely feels simmilar to Crydajam's "If You Give Me The Love That I Want" in style, but I can't help thinking that there could have been more to the track overall.

6/10

"Heat (Featuring Perry Colo)"

One of my personal favourites this. Very soulful peice of music that does not require your brain to function to enjoy, with a truly beautiful main sound and almost perfect mastering and builds.
There is just something very enjoyable about listening to "Heat", something I can't quite put my finger on. Listen yourself and see. Maybe perfection doesn't need to be explained?

9/10

"Blue Intelude"

What a great way to separate the beginning of the album with the remainder. "Blue Intelude" perfectly segments the ambience and peace of the first part of this album, with beautifully crafted bubbling leads and soft liquid pads. The pace is slow and allows you to get ready before the different styles in the middle of the LP.

7/10

"Steppin' Out"

Hands down, this is my personal favourite on the album. Absolutely excellent style here, mixing house and hip hop together, with massive piano, groovy hip vocals and bangin' bass drum. The way the track is put together and mastered is of especially high quality. I never thought a hip hop track could still be so house/electronic without being overwhealmingly mainstream.

Overall, a very powerful recording that I find hard to fault. Even if hip hop isn't really your style, I don't think there is much to complain about "Steppin' Out".

9.5/10

"Maestral (2008)"

Just one word to describe this track really. Funky!

The beginning is near on perfectly manufactured, with the drumkit introducing us to the piano and bassline very quickly. The bassline here carries the rest of the elements right through to the end, as does the exotic sounds found after a few minutes in.

There's an almost carribean flavour to the music on offer here, with some hints of latino still sneaking into parts. Combining some varying filters, modulation and a repetative but catchy piano roll marks this track to be a favourite to listeners. A winning favourite.

8/10

"Last Nite"

My god. Just unbeleiveable sequencing going on here. Extremely soulful piece once again, just about the right kind of bass on offer, and what I can only descibe as a massively catchy set of instruments and patterns. Loving the drumset here, as well as the random sounds popping in now and again.

Some very sexy synths going on here, which might be why the song is titled as it is. I wonder what Ian got last nite to make this up?

9/10

"Learn (Featuring Robert Owens)"

Beginning with a swirly bassline that rebuilds itself through the intro, which also helps to support the vocals as they enter the scene. Instrument wise, very simple construction allows the other words to really present themselves to the audience.
I'm really enjoying the actual vocals here, with a powerful meaning about learning to love others and yourself and looking at what makes you. A very enjoyable listen, but you have to be in the mood to stick this one through.

7.5/10

"The Hippest Hip"

Obviously, some more hip hop style is in order, Ian Pooley style. This changes completely compared to "Steppin' Out", being alot more downtempo with more old school funk bass and variating soft pads. Not as many vocals, but they match so well to the overlapping beats and instruments that I can;t really complain about that.

Must say, this really is hip, but I don't think it's the hippest. But you be the judge.

7/10

"My Kicks"

Back to Ian's favoured underground/latino styles again, this one certainly has the kicks, as well as the laidback listenability of his older works. The basic structure rarely changes, but that's not a deal breaker for My Kicks.

I love the twist with the vocals, coming in and out as the song evolves towards the end, as well as the forementioned kick drums. These are only my opinions, but hey. Still a kicking track.

8/10

"Do The Thang"

Absolutely love the intro on here. I must wonder who Hank is though?
Catchy latino instruments come back again, mixing well with the overall feel of a carribean beach party, me thinks. Of mention also is the stabby jiggly synth that pops up now and again. I'd definitely recommend this track for playing at parties to really get the crowd going.

8.5/10

"Closer"

A perfect end to a very successful album. This one sounds more like the electrohouse that i'm personally accustomed to. Classic detroit house beats, catchy synth, and extrememylenjoyable to listen to anywhere really. I'd like to think that Ian put alot of love into this closing statement for the album, as it is a great example of his signature style of Latino/Deep House.

9/10

Overall

I personally think that Ian Pooley's work deserves alot more credit that it currently recieves. He is a great underground producer, and here it really shows.

The blend of styles on offer here, old and new, mainstream and underground, can sometimes show what an artist is truly capable of when they push themselves to create masterpieces. In Other Words, this is a near perfect listen, and essential.

Overall score: 9/10

Hey guys!

Just makin' another blog post here. I thought I'd make it about the songs that have been stuck in my head lately. They're a little random, Ke$ha was stuck in my head but I won't post that because I think somebody would chase me around with a stick. But yeah, here is what has been in my head:

J Dilla - Nothing Like This (Video)

J Dilla is awesome. I love this little instumental hip hop piece. He doesn't seem to be all bitche$ and hoe$, he's all about the music. It's been said that he "was one of the music industry's most influential hip-hop artists, working for big-name acts like De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and Common." So you should check him out. The video is quite cute, but it's sad when the little guy doesn't get his lover :( J Dilla is one of the few hip hop artists that I actually like. R.I.P. J Dilla

Three 6 Mafia - Dope Boy Fresh (Video)

Dope boy, do do dope boy FRESHH Ehhhhh... was going constantly through my head all week. I don't know why. Catchy Hip Hop tune I guess.

Mattafix - To and Fro (Chicken Lips Remix) (Video)
It's a nice nice remix. The vocals are sort of harmonic and at the chorus "To and Fro" being sung is my favourite part of the song. Chicken Lips did quite well with this.

Field Music - Let's Write A Book (Video)

The video is quite fun, with random things flying everywhere. The Xylophone gives it it's quirky touch and the guitar and clapping sounds just makes the song great. Really fun track. You could see me jumping around the house to this. :)

So there you have it another post from me. I'll be posting up some more indie on here because indie is my second love to electronica and house. I might post some hip hop :)

Au Revoir!

My minimix is...wait...no minimix xD

Sorry about not posting for a while! I was going to post yesterday, but we went on a trip to the dunes all day. It was pretty fun. A few songs got me through the trip and the drive over there.

First song, You'll Stay In My Heart by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke featuring Savage. I've been playing this song for not that long. (3 Days actually xD) I like it very much. The talkbox is win. I've always loved a good talkbox in a house track. Love the background of the track as well.

Alan Braxe & Fred Falke ft. Savage - You'll Stay In My Heart

Second track, is Tinker Town Love. Up to date, I haven't really released it to the public. So here you guys go!

Tinker Town Love by Djwaybig

Third track, U Just Make Me Smile by Electromatic. I love his comeback as Electromatic since he has spent a lot of time as Sebon. I missed those Justice sampled kicks. It's a very amazing song. Love the synths and organization. Heard it's going to be on his album. Can't wait for it.

U Just Make Me Smile by Electromatic Trax

That's my post for today. Hope you guys like!

A Minimix Of Stuff.

Well, since it's something new, and I really wanted to post something today, here is a small minimix i've done:

Soma/ Around the World/ Celtic Cross by Dark DJ

It's nowhere near perfect, but it does includes Elements of:

deadmau5 - Soma
Daft Punk - Around the World

Dark DJ - Some Stuff.

I'm actually planning an album review for somepoint next week perhaps? From one of the artists on this minimix. Care to guess who? and what album?

Their name is Daft Punk (AKA Guy-Manuel de homem Christo and Thomas Bangalter) and today im giving you some of the rarest mixes and sets i have from them,so sit back and enjoy the show.

The first one i have for up here is the motorbass miami remix (No its not the motorbass vice one) of Around the World. At a whopping 13:47 long, this track plays some somooth disco-funk beats with the vocals of around the world echoing all through it. Its a real treat and its VERY hard to get. Luckily you have me so heres the track for you guys :)

Heres a Video of the epic track if you want to listen first ;)

For our second rare track we have the Emperor Machine Remix of Human After All. Though it is not a very old remix (since HAA came out in 2005) it is damn near impossible to find the EP in physical form and its even harder to find a high quality mp3 or even an mp3 to download of this at all on the web, so its definitely something you want to keep with you at all times :)

For our third remix comes the Whelan Di Scalas Remix of Da Funk. Not well-known and impossible to find, This remix takes da funk and gives it some style, which im sure youll love when you hear it. :)

Hm. Introductory post?

Well, hello everyone. I am Alex, though, I am known more as DJ Waybig. I mix, make music, produce, film, and just dig Electronic music over all.

I hope you guys enjoy the musics I post. I had a hard time choosing the songs I would post for my intro post. Well, I'll give this a shot.

First song I'd like to post has caught on to me for a while. Al-p from MSTRKRFT remixed the A-Team theme. I'm a HUGE fan of MSTRKRFT and always loved the A-Team theme song. These 2 clashing would be epic.

A-Team Theme (Al-P from MSTRKRFT Remix)

Next song I'd like to include in this post is Alive by Kamei. I downloaded this ep the day it came out. It's great. Though out of all the songs of the ep, this has to my fav. Everything about this track is fantastic: the sample, the chops, the beats, etc.

Kamei - Alive

Last song of my post, Moonchild's Girl. Great song. I really enjoy this track overall. The sample is great.

Moonchild - Girl

I guess that's it for my intro post. I will be posting more soon! But that's all for now. I hope you guys enjoyed my first post!

What Can I Say? I Am Dark DJ.

An Intro I Guess?

Well, I'm Thomas, but many of you probably know me as "Dark", which I much prefer to my real name!

I compose music, dabble in mixing and listen to ALOT of 90's house, as well as some trance and techno. Sometims even rock and pop. I do other things too, but that's another story...

I'm not 100% sure of what exactly I should write about for the intro, or indeed what I will write about in my next posts on this fabulous looking blog. I am looking forward to being part of this team, and I hope to interest and surprise people with my likes and dislikes of the music world as I see it.

I might as well link everyone to some music? I'll add something of my own for this post. This track is actually named in honour of "Juniper" aka Jenny from the blog!

Juniper Rocks HARDER by Dark DJ

Oh, and I promise not to post too much of my own material. If you are interested, I post my own music projects on my personal Blog.

Cheers,

Dark.

Hey Peeps!

It's Jenny here, aka Juniper (see post above). I hail from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My interests include fuzzy hats, converse all stars and house music. My hobbies include riding the subway and procrastination.

Ok, in all seriousness I think of music as a soundtrack to life. It is and has always been a integral part of my existence. I remember being 8 years old, dancing in my family room with these big ole stereo headphones on, to such classics as Blondie and Cats playing from my dad's (very ancient) record player. That was where I always felt safest. My mission here is to share the music that keeps me sane (relatively speaking) in this chaotic whirlwind I call life, whether it be Canadian homegrown, Rachmaninoff, or filthy dubstep.

Ciao Bellas!

PS - the links are to you tube vids, because it's 3:53 am and i couldn't be arsed to figure out the download links. but i will! promise! and it will be AWESOME!

初めまして・first post

Hi.

i'm Samantha [but please call me "piro"], your international correspondent, bringing you music from Around the World. (i like electronic real good, but i may be sticking to the more analog side of things for the sake of variety.) i have expertise in the Japanese scene, but really any language is great. i'm open to requests, too! i'm from America, btw.

i'm happy to join the blog, 'cause i've been gathering MUSIC [leeching] from assorted music blogs for years, and it's really exposed me to so many great artists, so i like to do my part in sharing and spreading the love, too. ♥

i'll be uploading on my dropbox/other online storage, so files are subject to "expire" when i need more room. if you need a reup, though, just ask nicely and i'll hook you up. :]

よろしくね。 nice to meet you.

here's where i tell you about the tracks linked to above:

first track of their I Have Hands album. it's music on crack--in the fun way--and highly recommended.
they are an American band who make cut-and-paste mashups a la The Avalanches (and are labelmates with GirlTalk). if you're into either of those other bands, this may be right up your alley.

this was the song that kind of cemented my interest in Kaela, i listened to her music before, but not every artist has a song you share a name with. :] (it actually refers to the Samantha of Bewitched fame, as the video attests.)
she's a mixed British-Japanese pop/rock artist with a fairly eccentric appearance. i can't think of any artist comparisons atm, but give it a try nonetheless.

ha! you thought i was going to share the Daft Punk song, didn't you. you were only half right. this is an... interesting cover of the famous track. quite the tropical feel to it.
i know nothing about him, but wiki leads me to believe he's actually a German electronic artist! shox! also no specific "sounds like" but you like Daft Punk, so c'mon...

one of my favorite tracks off of their second album (which is also a favorite of mine). female lead with rolling, soothing guitar.
British band who despite being from urban London, make music that i find speaks to southeastern rural landscapes of this track's namesake country. gorgeous.

a track from another music i like. it's bright piano rock, energetic and uplifting.
Angela Aki is a mixed American-Japanese, bilingual singer-songwriter/pianist who's lived in Japan and America. if you like Ben Folds (who she recently did a collaboration with) or piano rock in general, check it out.

Hey!

Hey! The name is Sam.

I really do not know what to say for my first post but I look forward to contributing lovely songs with you all as well as my friends. Um.. I like chai lattes, Electronica, Indie and House music and a little bit hypo. I'm Australian. (G'day!) and I'm a girl. I'll keep these boys in line haha. I was also the person that created the header so if you decide to copy it I'm afraid I'll have to kick your butt :) It isn't hard to make something like that on photoshop anyways. I'll show you some songs that I've been listening to lately. (They're youtube vids because I can't (really be bothered) find the download links for them :()

May this noise pollution poison your ears :)

What im listening to now.

Track 1: Swedish House Mafia - One(c wut i did thar?)
Widely considered t be one of teh best tracks from this years WMC(Winter Music Conference)
this progressive house banger made by the team of Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell(sometimes Pryda!!, and Laidback Luke!!!) was meant for the summer.
(there's also a pharrel version, but you dont really want to listen to that.)
Swedish House Mafia - One

Track 2 - Glenn Morrison - Contact
Yes, i know, its an old track.
BUT ITS SOOO GOOOD.
Often(incorrectly) attributed to The Mau5, the progressive gem by glenn morrison is what inspired me to make house music, along with daft punk. Listen to this with your eye closed, its a wonderful experience

On a unrelated note, here is a picture of Jonathan Crane.

Update!!! New Blog!!

Hey guys, if you're looking at this blog, you can tell (if youve been here before) it has changed drastically. What was once a blog about my stuff will now be a blog for others, where i will post about music i like and other cool things i find as well. Also, as you can tell, i've deleted all my posts and i am starting anew. The biggest update though is this: I will be hiring writers to write for this blog. Hopefully we can make this blog noticeable on the internet someday. I have one writer in mind and ive invited her
here. if She accepts I will ask her to write an intro post on here on that day :) Stay Tuned for some awesome stuff coming your way!
Cheers to a new start!
